Crea Digital 2014 has joined forces with Comprende to provide their support from Colombia in the education of Spanish-speaking children with disabilities in Latin America. Comprende was selected as one of the winners of Crea Digital 2014 in the category of "Co-production for the development or improvement of inclusive content aimed at people with disabilities for cultural and educational purposes."

Crea Digital is an initiative of The Colombian Department of Communications and Information Technology and the Department of Culture that seeks to promote co-production of digital content for educational and cultural purposes.

Comprende is a digital media library with educational accessible media with captions and audio description. Comprende supports literacy of Spanish Speaking students with visual and/or hearing disabilities living in Latin America. This resource also provides tools for teachers, administrators, and parents. Comprende’s team has designed a strategy to extend the benefits of this effort throughout the whole region.

The ceremony was held on Friday, September 12th at the Virgilio Barco Library in Bogotá, Colombia. 22 projects were seleccted around the country. With $2.8 million pesos, Crea Digital awarded the best projects.

"It is an honor to actively participate in the development of a new country through initiatives that support inclusion. The Colombian government has a serious and consistent agenda and has achieved to connect the country supporting diversity. We hope to participate in a similar agenda for inclusion, "stated Maria Victoria Diaz, director of the Comprende project, after receiving the award.
Meanwhile, the Minister Diego Molano Vega stated, "Never before in Colombia, in the field of promoting the creation of digital content for educational or cultural purposes, had the government granted such a substantial financial resource as has been awarded this year through 'Crea Digital': $2.8 million,” referring to the success of Crea Digital.
